1. Overview: High-speed dental handpieces (also known as high-speed handpieces, high-speed pneumatic turbine handpieces, dental drill handpieces, etc. (hereinafter referred to as handpieces) are commonly used medical devices for oral treatment. Its working principle is to use compressed air as a power to drive the wind wheel to rotate at high speed, thereby driving the dental needle to complete operations such as drilling and grinding on the tooth body.
According to the international standard of the product (ISO7785-1), handpieces with a speed of ≥160,000 revolutions per minute can be called dental high-speed handpieces. At present, most commonly used handpieces in China have a speed of 280,000 to 450,000 revolutions per minute.
According to the purpose of use, handpieces can be divided into high-torque handpieces, standard handpieces, small handpieces (mini type), impacted tooth handpieces and various special handpieces; according to the needle loading and unloading method, they can be divided into ejector type, mechanical clamping type (wrench type), button clamping type (capping type), etc.;
According to the type of air inlet connector, it can be divided into threaded connector and quick-change connector, and the air inlet connector has two holes, three holes, four holes and other different types.
The dental handpiece is a particularly sophisticated dental medical device. Whether it can be used and maintained correctly directly affects the service life of the Dental handpiece. This requires Dental handpiece users to master the correct use and maintenance of Dental handpieces.
2. Correct use of dental handpiece:
1). Correct technique: Since the bearing of the dental handpiece is very small and cannot withstand excessive cutting force, try to use the point technique as the main technique when using it. Do not rush to use the impact drill technique. Incorrect techniques can cause the bearing to be damaged in a very short time. Pay special attention to it when preparing the baked magnetic teeth.
2). Choose the appropriate needle, otherwise it will aggravate the damage to the bearing; Dental handpieces with different functions, characteristics, and speeds have certain requirements for the needles used, and you must use needles that match the speed of the Dental handpiece. Do not use needles that are bent, shaken, worn, or too long or too short, especially for mini Dental handpieces. The total length of the needle (including the handle) cannot exceed 17mm. When using a pressure cap clamp needle Dental handpiece, the needle diameter should be between 1.592 and 1.6mm; a needle diameter less than 1.59mm will cause the needle to be loosely clamped and fly out, causing a medical accident.
3). Correct lubrication: First of all, you must choose qualified lubricants. At present, some low-priced "Dental handpiece cleaning lubricants" on the market are made of inferior industrial oils, which are extremely harmful to Dental handpiece bearings. Secondly, during normal use, add cleaning lubricants at least twice a day, and clean and lubricate the Dental handpiece before and after sterilization.
4). Appropriate intake pressure: If the intake pressure is too low, the speed and torque of the Dental handpiece will be too low and affect normal operation; if the pressure is too high, the bearing will be damaged rapidly. The correct intake pressure is 0.20~0.25MPa. The correct intake pressure refers to the pressure measured at the intake joint at the tail of the Dental handpiece, not the pressure gauge on the treatment table. There is a slight difference between the two. Due to pipeline loss, the pressure gauge on the treatment table is greater than the intake pressure of the Dental handpiece.
5). It is recommended to use an oil-free air compressor first, and pay attention to draining the accumulated water in time. Be sure to install a water separator and air filter; when using an oil-containing air compressor, install an oil filter.
3. Maintenance of Dental handpieces:
1). Never immerse the Dental handpiece in an acidic disinfectant, otherwise it will seriously damage the bearings and the internal components of the Dental handpiece.
2). Never use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean the Dental handpiece.
3). After using or sterilizing the Dental handpiece, wipe it clean and pay attention to protecting the electroplating layer of the Dental handpiece.
4). Handle the Dental handpiece with care when using it, and do not collide or drop it.
5). The Dental handpiece cannot be turned on and rotated when the needle (or core rod) is not installed, otherwise the movement and the pressure cover will be damaged.
6). When the Dental handpiece is not used for a long time, the accumulated water in the machine should be drained and lubricating oil should be added.
