Why Need To Use Matrix Band?
matrix band is a dental tool used to establish the foundation for a missing proximal wall of a tooth preparation. It can be metal or plastic and is designed to maintain its shape against the tooth walls to support tight contacts during dental procedures.
Matrix band is used when doing interproximal restorations. Simply put, its purpose is to keep composite from coming in contact with the adjacent teeth. It forms the interproximal wall. It has concave surface (upward) & one convex (downward). The conxity of matrix band should put on the occluscal surface.
The matrix method makes it possible for a digital computer to calculate pressures at many positions of complex high-vacuum systems.
