Dental Handpiece Rotor Replacement Steps
Before replacement, prepare a professional handpiece wrench, new standard rotor cartridge and cleaning tools. Ensure the handpiece is disconnected from air and water supply to avoid safety risks.
First, insert a dummy bur into the chuck to fix the internal structure. Use the special wrench to unscrew the handpiece head cap counterclockwise gently. Push the dummy bur upward to eject the worn old rotor cartridge completely.
Clean the inner head cavity thoroughly to remove dust, debris and residual lubricant, which prevents abnormal noise and bearing wear after installation. Check the O-ring for damage and replace it if aging occurs.
Align the positioning pin of the new rotor with the slot of the handpiece head, then insert the cartridge steadily. Screw and tighten the head cap clockwise with the wrench with proper torque to avoid looseness or shell cracking.
Finally, install the bur, connect the handpiece to the dental unit, and conduct idle running test. Confirm the rotor spins smoothly without shaking, noise or air leakage, ensuring stable working performance for clinical use.
