Fiber Post and Screw Post
Fiber post as a special plait in a multi-axial arrangement gives better resistance to bending and torsion forces. The fiber post will prevent the post from breaking and makes it very sesillent and it willnot like a hard and numb metal post transmit stress and shck to the dentine. More and more endodontically treated teeth are being restored using fiber posts, primarily because they are safer, more easily removed, aesthetic, conserve tooth structure, and provide improved fracture resistance to these compromised teeth .
Screw Post are used to give retention for reconstruction of teeth, where the root canal has been endodontically treated. A prefabricated post is a metal pin placed in the root of a tooth that is healthy enough to hold it. The natural tooth's root is preserved. A crown or bridge is always affixed to the post. Posts are recommended when a root canal has been performed and not enough natural tooth remains to support a restoration.
