Dental Endodontic File Dental Barbed Broaches for Root Canal Cleaning
A dental barbed broach is a slender, hand-held manual instrument used in root canal (endodontic) treatment. Its primary function is to remove the soft tissue from inside the tooth's root canal.
Endodontic barbed broaches are a useful dental instrument that removes pulp during a root canal treatment. The round wires are notched with barbs creating the ideal texture for working through the procedure.
The tip of a barbed broach features numerous small, sharp, upturned barbs or serrations. These barbs are created by cutting into a soft steel wire and gently lifting the metal away from the shaft. When the broach is inserted into a root canal and twisted or pulled outward, the barbs snag and entangle the soft tissue, allowing the dentist to extract it. It is also commonly used to remove cotton wool dressings placed in the pulp chamber
